I first started practicing Yoga in 1996 when I was working in London. A work colleague suggested attending yoga classes in our lunch times and after work. My love & passion for yoga developed from here!
Upon my return to the North West I regularly attended classes. I also attended workshops and tried to further develop my knowledge. Yoga has not only helped me physically but also helped me to deal with the stresses and strains of day to day living. It wasn’t just the physical aspects of yoga I loved but the pranayama practice (breath control), relaxation and meditation. I appreciated the balance it brought to my life physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Yoga has contributed greatly to improving my wellbeing.
I decided to embark on a one year BWY Yoga Foundation course. After this I continued onto a BWY Level 4 teaching course for a further 2½ years. Originally I hadn’t intended to teach yoga, the plan was to further develop my knowledge. I undertook a further 100 hours of teaching training in 2017, Yin Yoga and Ayurveda with a Yoga Alliance registered yoga school.
In 2021, I trained further with BWY, the Gentle Years Yoga (GYY) course. It is a Ofqual regulated Level 4 qualification. It is a chair based yoga practice developed for older adults.
Whilst I was training as a Yoga teacher I additionally trained in holistic therapies including Reflexology, Reiki, Hopi Ear Candling and Swedish massage. I believe in a holistic approach and have personally benefited from holistic therapies during my life and wanted to be able to offer them to others. It is personally very rewarding to be able to offer an alternative and bring balance, energy, relaxation and calm to the lives of others.
Namaste.
